Wow...That Was Quick Leon Washington Ends One Day Holdout

Well, that didn't last long.
Disgruntled running back Leon Washington ended his one-day holdout, showing up for the Jets' first training-camp practice Friday morning at SUNY-Cortland.
Washington, who didn't report Thursday afternoon with the rest of the team, was on the practice field 20 minutes before the start of the first workout and he participated in Day 1 of the Rex Ryan era.
But he doesn't have his coveted contract extension, and multiple sources indicated that no deal is imminent.
As of late last night, the negotiations had hit a standstill, the Daily News reported. Evidently, Washington had made up his mind to show up no matter what, deal or no deal. This amounted to a one-day protest.
Washington was subject to a fine, about $17,000, but it wasn't immediately clear if he would actually be fined by the Jets. Based on Ryan's comments Thursday, it didn't sound like he was planning to dock Washington any money.
The Pro Bowl kick returner is entering the final year of a contract that pays him $535,000. He's seeking $6 million a year, but the Jets aren't willing to go that high for a backup running back and special teams player. Washington is the most dynamic weapon on the team, however, and the offense would be crippled without him.
The negotiations have been hampered by a change in the NFL's free-agent eligibility rules. Because 2010 looms as an uncapped year, a player in Washington's situation - entering his fourth year - needs six years of service to become an unrestricted free agent. Previously, it was four seasons.

Cavic has some harsh words for Phelps...let the rivalry begin

ROME (AP)—Milorad Cavic is tired of hearing about Michael Phelps having to compete in a supposedly inferior swimsuit. The Serb even offered to buy his American rival one of the latest models if that’s what it takes to even the playing field for their rematch in the 100-meter butterfly.

Cavic’s comments, coming after both swimmers easily advanced in Friday morning preliminaries, sets up a tantalizing rematch of their memorable race at the Beijing Olympics, which Phelps won by a hundredth of a second on his way to capturing a record eight gold medals.

Cavic, who wears the Arena X-Glide, said the perception that Phelps has no choice except to stick with the Speedo LZR Racer because of sponsorship commitments is “a complete lie.”

“I know he’s making a lot of money from Speedo,” Cavic said. “It’s loyalty. But throughout all my experiences, I’ve learned this—free will is a gift with a price tag, and whatever you choose to do you’re going to pay, but how much you’re going to pay is really dependent on you.”

Cavic said Arena would provide Phelps one of its polyurethane suits “within the hour.” The X-Glide and a similar suit by Jaked are considered fastest at these championships, where a staggering 29 world records were set through the first five days.

Phelps hustled through the mixed zone without stopping to speak to reporters. His coach, Bob Bowman, shrugged off Cavic’s comments.

“He’s a very good swimmer, a super-talented swimmer and he’s free to say whatever he wants,” Bowman said. “We know that Michael usually lets his swimming do his talking, and we’ll know by (Saturday) night what the deal is.”

Speedo allowed its athletes to switch to another suit if they thought it would improve their chances in Rome. But Phelps, who has been sponsored by Speedo since he was a teenager and earns millions from the company, decided to stick with the LZR.

“If Mike wants an Arena, he just has to say it,” Cavic said. “If he wants a Jaked and they don’t want to give it to him free, I’ll buy it for him. He has options. I think in the media it’s been portrayed that he has no option, he has to swim for (Speedo). It’s a complete lie.”

Cavic still thinks he won the 100 fly at the Olympics, even though both timing devices and high-resolution photographs appear to show conclusively that Phelps touched first. Cavic rekindled the issue this week, insisting that he was ahead at the wall but didn’t put enough pressure on the timing touchpad, so it recorded Phelps as the winner.

The Serb has been yearning for a rematch ever since Beijing, and he doesn’t want the suits to overshadow what happens in the water.

“I think there’s three options for Michael,” Cavic said. “The first option is to use the suit that he’s wearing, the second option is to get one of these (polyurethane) suits, which I guarantee Arena will provide him within the hour, as soon as he wants. The third option would actually be a dream of mine, to have the whole final everybody swimming in briefs. I swear to God, this is it, this is what I want, but this is the most unrealistic of all scenarios.”

At the U.S. nationals in early July, Phelps lowered the world record in the 100 fly to 50.22 seconds. But nearly everyone believes it will take the first sub-50 performance in history to have any chance of winning gold in Rome.

Cavic was fastest in morning prelims with a time of 50.56. Phelps won his heat with one of his patented late charges and tied for second overall with teammate Tyler McGill at 50.90.

Bowman was livid after his swimmer was beaten by Germany’s Paul Biedermann in the 200 freestyle, saying the X-Glide gave the winner a huge technological edge. Bowman even threatened to pull Phelps from future international meets unless FINA speeds up its ban on all bodysuits, which goes into effect next year.

Cavic found Bowman’s comments a bit hypocritical, especially since the whole swimsuit debate started with the introduction of the LZR Racer in early 2008, which led American team leader Mark Schubert to declare that anyone who wanted to win gold at the Olympics should switch to Speedo—even if they had a deal with another company.

At these world championships, Schubert led the fight to get bodysuits banned, a measure approved by the FINA congress just before the start of the swimming competition.

“Last year at the height of the suit controversy, Mark Schubert said, ‘Do you want the money or do you want the win?”’ Cavic said. “Michael Phelps has plenty of money. Who knows what it is? I think it’s just loyalty and he’s very gracious for everything Speedo has done for him.”

Coming off his emotional win in the 100 freestyle, Brazil’s Cesar Cielo was top qualifier in preliminaries of the 50 free at 21.37. All of the big names got through, including Schoeman, world-record holder Fred Bousquet of France and Americans Nathan Adrian and Cullen Jones.

World-record holder Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe paced the 200 backstroke prelims with a meet record of 2:06.72, followed by Britain’s Gemma Spofforth and Elizabeth Beisel of the U.S. Another American, 15-year-old Elizabeth Pelton, moved on in seventh.

Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Adlington led the way in the grueling 800 free at 8:20.53, just 27-hundredths ahead of teammate Joanne Jackson. Americans Chloe Sutton and Haley Anderson failed to advance to the eight-woman final.

The U.S. team of Ricky Berens, Daniel Madwed, Davis Tarwater and Peter Vanderkaay was quickest in the 800 free relay. Phelps will swim in the evening final.

There was a bit of a stunner in the morning. Forty-two-year-old American Dara Torres and Australian star Libby Trickett failed to advance in the preliminaries of the 50 butterfly. They tied for 17th at 26.41—one spot out of making the evening semifinals.

“Horrrrrible!” Torres, who still has the 50 free, wrote on Twitter. “(Probably) worst race since my comeback.”

“It was so fast here,” Trickett said. “I’m pretty sure my time would have made a final in 2007.”

Fast, indeed.

With 29 worlds records and three days of competition still remaining, these championships are put up truly staggering numbers by the closing ceremony Sunday night. Of course, they will also be tainted by the perception that this was more about the suits than the swimmers.

Olympic great Janet Evans told The Associated Press that the debate over swimsuits was threatening to “make a mockery of the sport.” Mark Spitz, the winner of seven golds at the 1972 Munich Games, was so amused by the whole situation that he released a statement to the AP saying he planned to come out of retirement at age 59.

“The suits that are breaking world records are so good that today I am announcing my comeback, effective immediately and ending on Dec. 31, 2009,” Spitz said, all in jest.

Seven more records fell on Thursday, pushing the Rome championships past the 25 world marks set at the Beijing Olympics. Fifteen records were established at the last worlds in Melbourne two years ago.

“It’s been a very exciting meet. It’s been very fast,” said Australia’s Jess Schipper, one of those getting in on the record-breaking fun. “But we all knew it was going to be fast coming in here, so nobody can say that they didn’t expect this. I think that the world records, while they may have been helped with the suits, it still has a lot to do with the swimmer and the work you’ve put in.”

When in Rome, throw out the record book.

Judge OKs pregnancy, DNA test in Nowitzki case

DALLAS -- The jailed ex-girlfriend of Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki must undergo pregnancy and DNA testing, a family judge ordered on Friday.

The Dallas Morning News reported that family court Associate Judge Randall Grubbs ordered the tests on Cristal Taylor, who claims Nowitzki is the father of her unborn child.

Medical records show that Taylor, 38, is pregnant, but Grubbs wanted his own test, according to the Morning News.

The test and results will determine whether DNA testing is necessary as Nowitzki seeks sole custody of the child Taylor claims to be carrying.

"We know the first one has to happen," Grubbs said during a hearing on Friday, according to the Morning News. "The other one may be moot."

In addition, Grubbs sealed the proceedings; attorneys told the newspaper they could not comment.

Taylor was arrested May 6 at Nowitzki's home in Dallas on a 2006 theft of services charge in Beaumont, Texas, for allegedly failing to pay for $10,000 worth of dental work.

She was transferred on June 30 to a jail in St. Charles, Mo., because of probation violations in a 1997 forgery and stealing case. She remains in that jail, after a judge refused to lower her $25,000 cash-only bond during a hearing on July 6. Her next hearing in that case is Aug. 24.

Taylor's St. Louis attorney, Matthew Fry, had argued that Taylor should be released because she needed outside medical care for a pregnancy that was deemed "higher risk," the Morning News reported in July.

St. Charles Circuit Court Judge Nancy Schneider said she saw no reason Taylor's medical needs couldn't be taken care of in jail, and added that while she was not doubting Taylor's pregnancy, "It is my understanding these [health screening reports] are self-reported by an inmate," the newspaper reported.

Attorney Scott Renick of Beaumont said he only represents Taylor on the criminal matter in Texas and declined comment on the case involving Nowitzki.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Breaking News!! Affliction Trilogy Canceled

(Associated Press) LOS ANGELES -- A major mixed martial arts show scheduled for Aug. 1 in Anaheim has been canceled because a suitable replacement could not be found for Josh Barnett.

Barnett tested positive for steroids last month. He had been set to fight Fedor Emelianenko, a Russian heavyweight often considered the world's top mixed martial artist.

This was to have been the main event of "Affliction: Trilogy" at the Honda Center. Affliction is a fledgling promotional company with just two major shows on its resume and didn't have enough time to find an appropriate opponent.

Barnett was denied a license by the California State Athletic Commission on Wednesday after failing his drug test last month.

Looks like this is the beginning to the end. Fedor is gonna be heading to UFC sooner than we all thought.

Steve McNair: American Football Hero

Steve McNair, nicknamed Air McNair, was an American football quarterback, best known for his years with the Tennessee Titans. A beloved player by colleagues and fans alike, the news of his recent death, an apparent murder-suicide, came in stark contrast to his public character. In his field, as a quarterback, Steve McNair was nothing short of brilliant. He was best-known for playing through many injuries, winning the “Most Valuable Player” award and would make just about any professional American football experts top 10 list of best quarterbacks ever.
Steve McNair grew up in Mount Olive, Miss., and became a football star at Alcorn State, a historically African-American college in Mississippi and a Division I-AA school where he dominated the Southwestern Athletic Conference. During his time at Alcorn State, he became a Heisman Trophy contender, which is a prestigious award given out annually by the Heisman Trophy Trust to the most outstanding player in college football. At this time fans dubbed McNair as "Air McNair." In addition, McNair won another prestigious award, the Walter Payton Award, which is given out annually to the most outstanding offensive player in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision of college football.

In his professional football career, Steve McNair led the Tennessee Titans to the 2000 Super Bowl, which they lost 23-16 to the St. Louis Rams despite his astounding 87-yard drive in the final minute and a half. Other career highlights include holding the Division I-AA records for career yards passing (14,496) and total offense (16,823), according to Sports Illustrated magazine. McNair was drafted in 1995 by the Houston Oilers, the team that eventually became the Tennessee Titans. Picked four times for the Pro Bowl, McNair finished with 31,304 yards passing and 174 touchdowns. Sports magazines like Sports Illustrated, ESPN the magazine, the Sporting News and more often ran feature stories on the athlete. In 2007, injuries finally led to his retirement after the football season.

After his retirement from football, Steve McNair, along with his brother-in-law, were arrested for driving under the influence but the charges were later dropped. Despite this brush with the law, Steve McNair continued to enjoy a positive public reputation of hardworking, philanthropic family man. He was passionate about charity work he did through his foundation and resided in an affluent neighborhood in Nashville, TN with his wife Mechelle and four sons.

On July 4, 2009, McNair was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds along with a female victim, 20-year-old Iranian American Sahel Kazemi, who was found dead of a single gunshot wound, in downtown Nashville. The Nashville police declared McNair's death a homicide on July 5, but did not reach a conclusion about the death of Kazemi, though many suspect a murder-suicide. Many magazines and sports writers, including those from USA Today, ESPN the magazine, Sporting News, TV Guide and Sports Illustrated urged fans to remember the talented athlete for his positive contributions to society, not his violent and untimely death that revealed a complicated life. A Better Version Of The Infamous Lebron Dunk..or as I like to call it LebronGate

Big Ben Just Can't Seem To Enjoy His Post Super Bowl Victories Without Getting Into Some Kind Of Trouble

Ben Roethlisberger Accused of Sexually Assaulting Andrea McNulty

Author: kellex

Another bonehead move by an NFL player? Do these events ever end?

Ben Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual assault, according to a new lawsuit that stems from July of last year. Andrea McNulty is claiming he lured her to a hotel room then sexually assaulted her.

Andrea is suing for sexual assault and battery, false imprisonment, and infliction of emotional distress. Ben is denies all of her accusations and his lawyer has released this statement:

“The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct.”

Apparently Ben was in Nevada at the time Andrea is claiming this event took place taking part in a celebrity golf tournament. Sounds like this lawsuit might sink even before it has a chance to sail, I hate it when desperate people are out to make a quick buck even if it means tarnishing someone’s reputation.

Not sure exactly what Big Ben was thinking this time around. ESPN seems to really be keeping this thing secret as per some policy they've adopted, but the rest of the blogging world is all over it and might I add, having a field day with it.

Chalk this one up with the rest of the ongoing list of NFL players in trouble for something or another. We may hate Tom Brady because he seems so perfect, but at least he's out of the spotlight for criminal activity.

Here Are Some Tips On How to Correct A Slice

Golf Swing Keys To Stop Slicing The Ball

Author: Mark Langer

Many golfers are searching for the best golf swing keys. They want to hit the ball longer and improve their game in the shortest time as possible. They simply want the inside out golf swing basics and that in a matter of time. If you want to improve your game as fast as possible then read this article.

I have put together some tips and tricks you can use to lower your score and better your game.

The first thing is to focus on you backswing. Most people are swinging too fast and go inside. Move slow and speed up when you downswing. The downswing has to be much faster. So you will be able to hit the ball longer without slicing.

The second tip is to keep yourself healthy and fit. This is one of the best golf swing keys. But a lot of golfer are thinking that it is not necessary to be fit. But this opinion is simply wrong. The golf game and especially the golf swing basics are very difficult and you have to hit the ball hard and straight. Without physical fitness you won´t be able to do that. So, keep yourself fit without a good workout program.

Another great way to improve your game fast is to stay focused and visualize your swing before doing it. This helps to automate your game and movements. This way you will held your handicap level and you will lower your score in a short time period. This is very effective and you can implement this technique right away.

The last point I want to mention is by far the most important one. You have to practice! Yes, training and practice in a regular routine is essential to improve your game.

Next you will want to go to the range and practice. Use the best golf swing keys and guides to improve your game as fast as possible.

The Los Angeles Lakers

Hey whats up guys!,

So I gotta apologize for not posting yesterday, the bar is only 6 days away so I have to kick it in high gear. Never the less I wanted to post an article for all your reading pleasure. See you all soon, and if its not to much trouble, for all you prayers out there, say a little prayer for me. If your a well wisher, send one my way, if your a karma person, please send some good vibes over to this end, I need all the help I can get. Anyway, enjoy the article!

Unless you've been living under a bridge somewhere, you know that the Los Angeles Lakers just won the NBA championship for a record 15th time.

15 major sports championships, that's a pretty unbelievable accomplishment. Now let me back up a second and say that I am not a Lakers fan. In fact, I am an anti-Laker fan. I watched the finals just so I could root against them and hope they lose. You see, I grew up watching the Celtics and Lakers battle it out in the mid-80's, and I was a huge Larry Bird fan. I guess those feelings from back in the day just stuck with me. Well, even if you hate 'em, you gotta love 'em because no doubt about it, they are good!

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. There are several reasons why the Lakers are such a dominant franchise in the NBA. The way that organization is run is a lesson for Network Marketing, MLM or any other business for that matter. Let's just focus on the top three reasons why Network Marketers can learn a lesson from the Lakers.

1) The Lakers Acquire The Best Talent

Whether players or coaches, the Lakers have always been willing to do what it takes to acquire the best talent.

If you didn't know, the Lakers had the first ever star in the NBA, George Mikan and they won their first championship with him in 1950. Either through the draft or through trades, the Lakers always went after the best. The Lakers took risks, they traded 3 of their best players in the late 60's for Wilt Chamberlin and traded 4 of their best players for Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the mid-70's, they traded Vlade Divac (their center and leading scorer at the time) for the rights to Kobe Bryant.. When the Lakers had high draft picks, they got great talent like Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Magic Johnson and James Worthy. When great players were available in the market, they went after them and got them (Shaquille O'Neal).

Between Pat Riley and Phil Jackson, the Lakers have had two of the best coaches in NBA history. Why? Because they recognized the talent and rewarded them for it. Pat Riley was a former player and assistant coach when he got the head coach job for the Lakers. But he led them to 3 championships as did Phil Jackson. They Lakers realized they needed the best available coach out there and the were willing to pay the price.

So, what can Network Marketers learn from this? Be like the Lakers, attract the best talent to your team. What are you doing to attract the best talent? Are you willing to take risks to make it happen?

3) The Lakers Are Winners

Plain and simple, the Lakers are winners, 15 championships spanning 60 years. But more importantly, everyone knows that the Laker organization is successful. Why? They celebrate their victories. Every championship has a banner up in the stadium. Whenever you see an NBA game, you always see a clip of the championship celebration of a past team.

The Lakers always remind themselves and their fans of the historical success of the organization. Winning creates winning. The Lakers breed success. They take players, coaches, teams that weren't successful in the past and make them successful, if you are a Laker, you are a winner.

Sure, there were dry spells, but even during those spells, the Lakers may not have one the championship, but the still were winners.

So, what can Network Marketers learn from this? Are you breeding success in your organization like the Lakers are in theirs? Are you a winner and have you surrounded by winners? Are you celebrating your successes and remind yourself and your team that you are successful?

4) The Lakers Have A Great Owner
Between Jack Kent Cooke and Jerry Buss, the Lakers have had two of the most profitable NBA franchise owners in history. But why were they so profitable? Because they were willing to invest. They invested in players, in coaches, they invested in the team and the franchise.

These owners knew that in order to grow the value of the franchise, of the team, they had to invest in it. They had to invest to become winners and to continue winning. The treated their franchise as a business. A good business makes smart investments and these owners knew it!

Hello Boys and Girls, I thought is was a random and funny article so I'm sharing it will all of you. Hope you sports fans get a few chuckles out of this. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!..Till Next Time

With the NFL Network broadcasting its first game this Thursday, it will only be a matter of time before every professional and major college team has its own channel to broadcast their games. This will leave ESPN with nothing but the WNBA game of the week and 23 hours a day of Around the Horn. How will this effect the lives of those made into household names by the Worldwide Leader?
Let's take a look into the future...
Kenny Mayne and Suzy Kolber - Turn their successful careers in commercials into hosting a 30 minute infomercial on the amazing ab and bun machine that also acts as a marinator and silver cleaner.
Mark May - In November 2009, Lou Holtz tries to punch May on live TV after he suggests that a 4-8 Notre Dame team should not be included in the BCS title game. ESPN had just bid 20 billion dollars to broadcast Notre Dame football and after pressure from Digger Phelps, Mike Brey, Bob Davie, Gerry Faust and new play by play man Regis Philbin, May takes the fall. Eventually writes a tell-all book with Harold Reynolds about the inner workings of the Bristol studios.
Dan Patrick - Horrible Onstar Hotline accident involving Keith Olberman ended his career in early 2006. What, you mean he is still on the air?
Michael Irvin - Dallas County Inmate #139876P25.
Chris Berman - Never returns from forced leave of absence after attempting to kiss Brett Favre at Favre's retirement news conference in February, 2011. A tearful Berman appears with Joe Namath on The View six months later to begin the healing process.
Bill Simmons - Popular website columnist is arrested after Colts win 2012 Super Bowl (their 3rd in 5 years) for sending threatening letters to Peyton Manning. Simmons had been released from his contract for failing to produce his required number of columns after ESPN decided he could no longer use Tom Brady is better than Peyton Manning as a topic. The only 3 original columns (all mailbags) he posts in 2011 will still be available to ESPN Insiders. In an ironic turn of events, he ends up cellmates with former Knicks coach Isaiah Thomas, serving a life sentence for taking out a contract on Simmon's life. Luckily for Simmons, just like with everything else Thomas tried, he failed.
Joe Theismann - Tragic story. After ESPN fires Tony Kornheiser from the Monday Night booth for talking about his Fantasy team too much, they bring in Dick Vitale. In an effort to be heard over Vitale, Theismann screams so loud his vocal cord literally breaks in two and his career ends. Mike Tirico says it sounded like a twig snapping. Lawrence Taylor was unavailable for comment.
Dick Vitale - After the Theismann incident, ESPN goes with announcer less booth and sets ratings records. He ends up fighting Billy Packer on one of Fox's celebrity boxing shows. Fight ends in a draw as both were wearing I Love Coach K shirts and as a result it was difficult to tell who was punching who.
Woody Paige - Solved the question if a news columnist who's opinion no one cares about screams in the woods, can anyone hear it? The answer sadly was no, but we can only guess he is still screaming.
Sean Salisbury and John Clayton - Moved to Vermont where their life partnership continues in relative anonymity.
It looks like we should enjoy these characters while we can. Enjoy the game on Thursday!!

Hey There Golf Fans!!

Well Hello Hello, my fellow golf fans

In honor of the british open I am posting this PSA on golf cart saftey. (Just trying to do my part to keep all you crazy golfers safe) Enjoy.

It used to be that most golfers would rather walk for their round from the tees to the fairways in order to benefit from the full physical exercise that could be derived from playing this royal and ancient game In fact, despite the long history of golf, the first golf cart was introduced only in the late 1940s to enable players with disabilities to have mobility around a golf course

It used to be that most golfers would rather walk for their round from the tees to the fairways in order to benefit from the full physical exercise that could be derived from playing this royal and ancient game. In fact, despite the long history of golf, the first golf cart was introduced only in the late 1940s to enable players with disabilities to have mobility around a golf course.

But with more and more people attracted to playing golf, the use of golf carts have likewise increased. These motorized vehicles for the links and fairways allowed for faster games and convenient transport and holding of golf clubs. According to the National Golf Foundation, motorized golf carts are now used in about two-thirds of all 18-hole rounds.

This increased presence of motorized carts plying the golf course has led to concerns on golf cart safety. As in other motor vehicles, improper operation of golf carts can result in accidents and serious injuries, in addition to causing damage to the golf course.

The Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA) suggests several rules for the safe use of golf carts. One GCSAA suggestion is very simple: operate golf carts only from the driver?s side. No joyriding or showing off as such attitude is not only unsafe but also violates the etiquette in a golf course.

A further advice is to limit passengers to the seating capacity of the golf cart. Most of these vehicles do not have seat belts, so it has to be ensured that the passengers are fully seated and securely aboard before the driver starts the golf cart.

To further enhance golf cart safety, driver and passengers should keep their entire body inside the vehicle when it?s already moving. A hanging foot shod in a cleated shoe, for example, could easily catch the ground and result in a sprained ankle or broken foot. Limbs extended outside the golf cart could also get snagged by tree branches.

A safe golf cart driver should go slowly through turns and be always on the watch for any oncoming traffic, whether pedestrian or another vehicle. Extra caution should be exercised when driving a golf cart up and down slopes, where the vehicle needs to be driven straight and slow. Same applies when going in reverse, driving on loose surfaces, wet turf or rough terrain.

Golf cart safety precautions extend up to the time the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The brakes have to be set and the key removed when the cart is no longer in use. The golf cart should never be driven by somebody impaired by alcoholic drinks or drugs.

Golf carts should be driven only in areas where the vehicles are allowed. Areas restricted to golf carts are indicated by golf course signs which should be obeyed at all times. Golf carts can seriously damage the golf course which would consequently jeopardize the game not only of the carts? users but those of other golf club members and guests as well.

A brief Histroy of the World History

Hey Everyone, So in honor of tonight's pending All-Star game, I found for your reading pleasure an article written by Tiffany Provost. She gives a brief synopsis of the World Series, that you all might enjoy.

My two cents on the matter is that for what it's worth. Bud Selig deserves credit for making the All-Star game somewhat relevant again. Sure the guy has made allot of bonehead moves during his tenure, but implementing the wild card race and making the all-star game count has been simply genius. Kudos to him and hopefully whoever ends up succeeding him will learn from his mistakes but also be willing to take unorthodox risks in order to keep baseball America's past-time.

Till Next Time:

Major League Baseball has been the most prominent American sport for well over one hundred years. The World Series is an annual event, having been held almost every year since the beginning of the twentieth century – always with a solid attendance. The sport of baseball has so much history and you will understand the World Series better with this information.

What is the World Series? The World Series is the end of the annual major league baseball season. It is the official championship between the best players in the major league teams of both America and Canada.

When did the World Series start? The baseball World Series of baseball (as played by the National League and American League teams) began in 1903. There have been only two occasions (1904 and 1994) in which a boycott and strike ended the series. The name, “World Series” came from “World's Championship Series”, which first started to be used in 1880's. The name was shortened to “World's Series” and then, later “World Series”. The champs of this tournament have been given the title “the World Champions” since 1903.

The concept of the tournament. The World Series has almost always been made up of a best-of-seven playoff series. The only times this differed was in 1903, 1919, 1920 and 1921. Those years featured a best-of-nine format. Whichever team wins four games in the baseball World Series is then awarded the World Series Trophy. Every team member is awarded personalized World Series rings. On top of that, whoever wins the World Series gets an enormous banner that bears their championship status. You will see this banner displayed at the home stadium of the winning team – so when you are at a baseball stadium, look up! You'll see the banners from all the World Series’ hanging high above the field.

Only the best teams get to the playoffs. The scores received through the entire season matter in the selection process for the World Series. Only the best teams make it there, even though they all compete hard. he New York Yankees have achieved this in 39 of the 104 World Series – as of 2008 - more than any other team in the American and National league. It is the Chicago Cubs who have only ever won just one World Series – and were one of the first, back in 1908.

Baseball today. Baseball continues to grow in popularity. From the earliest recorded times, just barely ten teams tried to win the World Series trophy - and the number of major league baseball teams continues to increase. Today in 2009 there are around thirty MLB teams in both the American and National league.

This sport, which began as pure entertainment, now pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to players. At the top of the scale are the Yankees who paid out $209,081,579 in 2009, and at the bottom were the Marlins, with 2008 salaries of $21,836. There is not question that the better play a team has had in the World Series, the higher their salaries will be.

Roger Federer - Tennis Legend

Happy Sunday, to all of you (which basically means happy Sunday to myself, no legions of fans as of yet, but I'm an optimist, you will come soon enough) anywho check out this article about Roger Federer written by my boy Jason Atherton. And share your thoughts with me. My two cents on Roger Federer is that just when critics were beginning to write him off, the mercurial Roger Federer bounced back to win the French Open Tennis Championships for the first time and in the process equalled the record of 14 Grand Slam victories, held by Pete Sampras. It is an astonishing record yet lets be honest, we are talking about two stars in two distinct era's. I think what Pete dead was much more amazing because he had to compete against way better talent (Andre Agassi anyone) sure R.F. has Nadal, but over the coarse of his career he didn't have the stiff competition that Petey did. Anyhow read the article.

Till Next Time...

Author: Jason Atherton Just when critics were beginning to write him off, the mercurial Roger Federer bounced back to win the French Open Tennis Championships for the first time and in the process equalled the record of 14 Grand Slam victories, held by Pete Sampras. It is an astonishing record and places Federer arguably as the greatest player the game has ever seen with only one man currently playing that could overhaul him, that of course is Rafael Nadal, who is the only man ever to beat Federer in a Grand Slam final. The fact that he has done so five times does take some of the gloss off Federer's achievement, but nonetheless, Federer now holds two of the four Grand Slams while Nadal holds the others. To date, Federer has won five Wimbledon's, equalling Bjorn Borg's record of five consecutive wins, five US Opens, Three Australian Opens and now his maiden French title. The question is how many more can he win? In truth Federer has not played to his best for the past 18 months, he has lost many matches and last year had it not been for his victory in the US Open he would have finished the year with only two minor titles. He relinquished his Wimbledon crown to Nadal and was humiliated by the same player in the 2008 French Open Final, winning only four games. This year however, he performed well in the Australian Open losing to Nadal in a five set thriller but beat Nadal when winning the Madrid Masters on clay against Nadal in the tournament before winning this. Federer now turns his attention to Wimbledon, his favourite tournament and there is no doubt that he will be looking to regain the crown he lost to Nadal in that most memorable of five set matches last year. He will go into that tournament as favourite and if he can win he will need only one more to equal the record of seven victories held once again by Sampras. A win of course will also see him regaining the World number one spot also lost to Nadal in 2008. Federer is only 27 years old yet he seems to have been around forever, it is amazing that he can play to such a level over such along time. He has been in the final of sixteen of the last eighteen Grand Slams, only missing out at the Australian in 2008 and 2005. Who would dare back against him getting to the final again at Wimbledon based on that record. The great news for tennis fans of course is the rivalry between Federer and Nadal will continue. They are easily the best two players in the world and Nadal is only one of two players who can better Federer on their head to head matches. Nadal leads emphatically in fact by 13-7, but most of those have been on Nadal's favoured surface of clay. The other player who van better Federer in their head to heads is Britain's Andy Murray who leads Federer by 6-2. Significantly however one of Murray's losses to Federer was in the final of the 2008 US Open.
