The Philadelphia 76ers have come to an agreement in principle with free-agent center Primoz Brezec on a one-year contract, his agent, Marc Cornstein, told ESPN.com on Wednesday.
Brezec will earn the veteran minimum salary of $1.1 million next year. Brezec is expected to back up Samuel Dalembert.
Brezec averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for his career. He's played for the Charlotte Bobcats, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors. Brezec's best year was in 2004-05 when he averaged 13 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Brezec spent the last season in Italy playing for Virtus Roma. He averaged 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in Euroleague play.
It's a good pickup in the sense that it adds depth to that front court...and hell if all else fails that's an additional 6 fouls you have at your disposal to use against D-Howard and Shaq
