LeBron unlikely to accept extension from Cavs

AKRON, Ohio -- LeBron James is going to make the Cleveland Cavaliers wait -- and sweat.
James indicated Friday that he is unlikely to accept a contract extension from the Cavs until after the 2009-10 season and presumably will become a free agent.
At an event in his hometown to unveil Nike Air Max LeBron VII, the latest sneaker in his signature line, James made his strongest comments yet about his future. The NBA's reigning MVP said he signed a three-year contract in 2006 to give him more options once it expires.
"I signed a contract in 2006 with an option, and it would make no sense for me to sign that contract if I didn't keep my options open," he said. "I'll let you fill in the blanks."
I don't blame him, the dude has an axe of that franchises head. He loves the fact that they do in fact treat him like a King, kissing his a$$.

I think not only will he not accept the extention this year, but he will stay with the Cavs next year by not taking the player's option and become a free agent in 2011. Another year of courtship by the entre NBA for his Kobe-sized ego! Sorry, Lebron, I overexaggerated; your head isn't as big as Kobe's yet...
Key word is yet...but it's getting there. I think its just a natural progression. You come into the league kind of humble but then you start buying into the hype and then start believing that your a "God" then the older they get they realize that it is not all about them and then they truly start to enjoy playing the game again...And I agree, I also think that he's gonna end up signing a max deal with the Cavs when it's all said and done.
So you think he'll accept an extention after 2010 or will he opt to stay in Cleveland until 2011 and then sign a 6 year contract? I think after 2010, he won't opt out thus making him a free agent in 2011. Then, in 2011, it's anybody's game. I think he might leave after 2011 though.
