Owners, players begin talks to head off lockout

Owners, players begin talks to head off lockout

NEW YORK -- The countdown to the next NBA lockout began in a way Tuesday, with commissioner David Stern and a group of 10 team owners making it abundantly clear that they will not extend the current labor deal into the 2011-12 season.

Smart move by Stern and the NBAPA, because any work stoppage would be absolutely crippling especially because the league worked their a$$'s off to recover from the last lockout. Despite what Mark Cuban may think, I really believe that for the most part the players DO get it and they have enough business savvy in this day and age to realize that a lockout is bad for their bottom line.......when I mean most players I'm excluding the Starbury's, Spreewells and Iversons of the world...cause yea need I say more.
